The Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB) is a premier research organization in frontier areas of modern biology. The objectives of the Centre are to conduct high quality basic research and training in frontier areas of modern biology, and promote centralized national facilities for new and modern techniques in the inter-disciplinary areas of biology. CCMB was set up initially as a semi-autonomous Centre on April 1, 1977 with the Biochemistry Division of the then Regional Research Laboratory (presently, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, IICT) Hyderabad forming its nucleus and Dr P M Bhargava heading the new Centre. Earlier, the Governing Board of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) New Delhi, the apex body which constituted 44 research institutions in the country, approved the proposal in 1976 to establish such a Centre in view of the importance of research in the frontier and multi-disciplinary areas of modern biology. During 1981-82, the CCMB was accorded the status of a full-fledged national laboratory with its own Executive Committee and Scientific Advisory Council. With major expansion plans, it was decided to relocate the Centre to a spacious campus.

Faculty Positions at South Asian University

The South Asian University (SAU) was established in July 2010, by joint funding of the eight SAARC Member States (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka). TheSAU is essentially a postgraduate and research university currently located in Akbar Bhawan, Chanakya Puri, New Delhi. Its own campus is coming up on a 100 acre plot of land in South Delhi.

Regular Faculty Positions

SAU is looking for faculty members who are outstanding scholars, and whose research and teaching interests will expand or complement the existing academic programs of the university. Citizens of the eight SAARC Member States as well as any other country outside SAARC are encouraged to apply for these positions. Selected candidates from countries other than India will be sponsored for work visa in India. Interested candidates may apply in the prescribed application form. SAU invites applications for Visiting Faculty Positions in its various Faculties / Departments. University seeks applications from outstanding scholars whose research and teaching interests will complement and enhance the existing academic programs of the University. This recruitment drive is especially meant to augment the representation of scholars from various South Asian countries atSAU. Scholars already serving in universities / institutions in SAARC countries other than India, i.e. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are invited to apply for these visiting positions. Citizens of countries outside SAARC region are also welcome to apply for these positions. These positions will have a maximum tenure of one year.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of Research Associate (RA)/Senior Research Fellow (SRF)/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under the supervision of Prof. Asis Datta, Distinguished Emeritus Scientist, NIPGR in DBT and CSIR research projects, detailed as under:
 

1. DBT research project entitled "Biotechnological approaches to improve nutritional and post- harvest quality, drought tolerance and pathogen resistance in edible crops". (01 post of RA and 03 posts of SRF)


2. CSIR project entitled "Role of N-acetylglucosamine catabolic pathway in pathogens of human and plants". (01 JRF and 01RA)

Junior Research Fellow: Emoluments as per project sanction & DBT/CSIR norms

Candidates having M.Sc. degree (with minimum of 55% marks) or equivalent in Life Sciences/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology or any other related field are eligible to apply.

Senior Research Fellow: Emoluments as per project sanction & DBT/CSIR norms.

Candidates having M.Sc./M.Tech degree (with minimum of 60% marks) or equivalent in Life Sciences/Biotechnology with minimum of two years of post M.Sc/M.Tech research experience in Plant Molecular Biology Laboratory are eligible to apply. The candidature must be supported with published research papers in standard refreed journals.

Research Associate: Emoluments as per project sanction & DBT/CSIR norms.

Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences are eligible to apply. Candidates having experience in the area of Plant Molecular Biology and Plant Biochemistry is highly desirable. The candidature must be supported with published research papers in standard refreed journals.

The positions are completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the validity of the project, which can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate’s performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above posts depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidates. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms.
