Advertisement for Research Fellowship


Applications are invited for a Junior Research Fellow with a fellowship of Rs.14,000/- pm + admissible HRA in an ongoing DST Project entitled Studies on ureotelic CPS evolution in vertebrates: immunological and molecular characterization of CPS I and CPS III in an ureogenic freshwater teleost, Heteropneustes fossilis.”  The project is expected to continue till June 2012.

The applicants should have a consistent good academic record with M. Sc. in Zoology/ Biochemistry/ Life Sciences/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology or related subjects with at least 55% marks, NET/GATE qualified and age below 28 years (33 years for women & SC/ST candidates). Practical experience of techniques related to cDNA preparation, gene sequencing and phylogenetic analysis will be preferred.  All other things being equal SC/ST candidates will be preferred as per GOI rules.

Applications with complete bio-data including email id and telephone numbers for communication, attested copies of the certificates, mark sheets (Class 10 onwards) and a recent pass port-size photograph must reach Professor B. K. Ratha, Principal Investigator, Biochemical Adaptation Laboratory, Department of Zoology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi – 221 005 on or before August 09, 2011. Interview will be held very soon there after, and the selected candidate will be required to join immediately.

No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates called for interview.
