Visiting Students' Research Programme (VSRP-2011)

TIFR conducts summer programmes in which talented students are given an exposure to research activities in areas of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics (Astronomy & Astrophysics, Condensed Matter Physics & Material Sciences, High Energy Physics, Nuclear & Atomic Physics and Theoretical Physics). The programmes are held at the Mumbai campus of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research as well as at the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), Pune.

Typically, VSRP students will have just completed a year of their Master's programme, and get an opportunity to work on a research project at TIFR during the period mid May-mid to July each year.

At TIFR, research is carried out in frontline areas of all the fundamental sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics, as well as in the field of Science Education.  TIFR Scientists are world leaders in several fields and their published contributions to scientific knowledge are internationally recognised.  Over the years, the Institute has developed many new areas of research as well as training programmes.

Post –graduate Diploma in Science Education: 2011 (PGDSE-2011)

In order to provide opportunities to teachers and others to obtain training and for carrying out science education projects, this Centre is offering a post graduate diploma programme in science education. Some of the aspects covered in the proposed programme would be courses related to subject content, laboratory experiments, research experience and experience in education technology. The training will be provided through projects and few formal courses. The programme will be for one year (for full-time students), at the end of which they will be given a post-graduate diploma in science education. The programme will take two years for teachers in service who do this on a part-time basis.

Applications are invited from teachers with B.Sc/M.Sc with or without B.Ed qualification as well as from individuals who have B.Sc/M.Sc qualification interested in science education.

NCCS invites applications from the eligible candidates pursuing their M.Sc. and integrated M.Sc. / M. Tech degree (those completed at least three years) in any branch of Life Sciences to undertake Project Training as a part of their dissertation work/course curriculum at this Institute.

BCIL Biotech Industrial Training Program (BITP) 2010-2011

 Biotech Consortium India Ltd. (BCIL), Department of Biotechnology invites application from students in biotechnology for practical training in biotech companies. Stipend of Rs 8,000/- per month will be paid to selected candidates.

The objective of BITP is to provide industrial exposure to students to improve job prospects and to help biotech industry to identify prospective manpower. Since 1993, hundreds of post graduate students have been trained in leading biotech companies and several trainees have been absorbed by the industry.

Eligibility:

 

B.Tech/B.E/M.Sc/M.Tech/M.V.Sc. in molecular & Human Genetics, Molecular Biology & Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Biochemical Engineering & Biotechnology, Bioprocess Technology, General/Agricultural/Industrial/Marine/Medical/Pharmaceutical/Environmerntal/Plant/food/Animal Biotechnology, Completed in the year 2009 or 2010 with minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade. Students from DBT Supported teaching programmes will be given preference. They will have to produce a certificate from their department head/course coordinator at the time of interview if shortlisted.
