Walk-in: National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) Career opportunity for Junior Research Fellow

National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as ‘Beri-Beri’ Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a "Deficiency Disease Enquiry" and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged "Nutrition Research Laboratories" (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.

Research Assistant-II @ National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases | Walk-in-Interview

National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases conducts research on acute diarrhoeal diseases of diverse etiologies as well as on typhoid fever, infective hepatitis and HIV/AIDS related epidemiological research and screening. Aims of this Institute are to conduct research on these diseases in both basic and applied aspects. The Institute also trains health professionals for better management and prevention of diarrhoeal diseases and for rapid and correct diagnosis of the etiological agents. Epidemiological investigations of diarrhoeal diseases are carried out in different parts of India. Antisera against Vibrio cholerae are raised in this Institute and supplied to the national and international laboratories. Presently, specific monoclonal antiserum for detection of Vibrio cholerae O139 strains have been developed and are supplied to WHO (SEARO), New Delhi for distribution to various national and international laboratories. As WHO Phage Reference Center, this Institute receives a large number of Vibrio cholerae strains from all over the world for Phage typing.

One post of Research Assistant on a consolidated salary of Rs. 22,120/- p.m. is to be filled up on a temporary, contractual basis, co-terminus with the duration of a National Institutes of Health-funded project Center for the Study of Complex Malaria in India. The qualifications, experience and other details are given below:

Essential qualifications: Master’s degree in any branch of Life Sciences with specialization in genetics/molecular biology/genomics and/or malaria will be preferred.
Desirable: Field experience in malaria, Good computer skills and experience with using MS Office.
Age: Up to 30 years

Emoluments :   Rs. 16,000/- per month (may be increased to  :   Rs. 22,000/-)

Duration :  The appointment is on purely temporary basis initially for a period of one year or till the services are required  by the project  or till the validity of the project, whichever is earlier.

Accommodation :  The Research Associate may be provided with suitable accommodation in lieu of H.R.A, subject to availability.

Eligible candidates may appear for a walk in-interview at NBRC between 10 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. on 19th August 2011 alongwith therir CV and all the required certificates in original and with a set of attested copies of such certificate / documents in support of their qualification and experience.

No TA / DA will be payable to the candidates for attending the interview
