The project is tenable upto 26th September 2013. Details of the qualifications, experience, associateship / fellowship and age are as follows:

Position I:

Research Associate III: (One Post)

Essential Qualification: PhD degree in Biochemistry/Life Sciences/Microbiology.

Experience: Molecular biology along with expertise in immunology/infectious disease with relevant publication in these fields.

Associateship: Rs 24,000/- p.m., plus admissible allowances.

Age: Below 35 years. Relaxable in case of SC/ST/OBC/Women candidates only as per rule.

Position II:

Junior Research Fellow: (One Post)

Essential Qualification: M.Sc in any branch of Life Sciences except Botany along with good academic record. Candidate must have NET/GATE qualification.

Desirable Qualification : Experience in working with animal models and glycolipids.

Fellowship: Rs 16,000/- p.m., plus admissible allowances.

Age: Below 28 years. Relaxable in case of SC/ST/OBC/Women candidates only as per rule.

The National Centre for Antarctic & Ocean Research (NCAOR), an Autonomous Society under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, is looking for prospective candidates for filling up the following positions under the project “Southern Ocean Studies”. The position is purely temporary on contract basis under the project mode, initially for a period of one year. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions are invited to attend the walk-in-interview at NCAOR on 09.11.2010 (Tuesday) (from 9.00 AM onwards)

Minimum qualification and experience:

Essential: Masters degree in Marine Biology / Marine Sciences /Botany / Zoology from a recognized university with at least 60% marks at Graduation or Post Graduation level.

Experience: Two years of academic/R&D experience in the relevant field.

Desirable: Experience in plankton studies, scientific cruises / data acquisition / processing / interpretation.

Job responsibilities: Participation in scientific cruises; marine data acquisition processing, analyses and interpretation

Total Emol. per month (Rs.): 36000/- (Inc. HRA)

(Registration will start from 09:00 AM to 11.30 AM. No candidate will be allowed to attend interview after Registration time. Interview will start from 10:00 AM onwards)

Consolidated Emoluments: Rs. 36,000/- pm (Inc. of all)

Age Limit: Not exceeding 35 years, age relaxation to the employees of GOI and SC/ST/OBC as per GOI norms. Age relaxation may also be considered in case of exceptionally deserving candidates.

Reservation: As per GOI norms. However, being a project mode position for a short period, if such candidates are not available, the same will be treated as unreserved and will be filled by the deserving candidate.

Tenure: The post is purely temporary under the Project mode on temporary/contract basis. The assignment is initially for a period one year/ or till the completion of the Project, whichever is earlier.

N.B:-

1. The date of Walk-in-interview is 09.11.2010 (Tuesday) is the cut-off date for all the purposes.
2. Director NCAOR has the right to relax the eligibility criteria of the candidates of exceptional track record and experience matching to the requirement of the project and also to cancel the recruitment process at any stage, without assigning any reason thereof.
3. The person engaged will not be treated on par with regular employees of NCAOR and shall have no right to claim implicit or explicit, for their absorption or regularization in NCAOR at any time.
4. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

POST GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP IN BIOMEDICAL MEDICAL STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY

Project title:

Polyamine metabolism as a potential drug target of Protozoan parasites.

The project intende to lead to a PhD.

Job assignments

The Objective of the project is to Acquire Detailed Functional and structural details of the polyamine biosynthetic enzymes from Protozoan Parasites Causing Tropical Diseases, Especially YHR malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum. The polyamines constitute a group of cellular components That ARE essential for growth and survival of Many human pathogens and polyamine biosynthesis is a potential drug target. The Proposed Project includes work Within Areas like Parasitology, molecular and structural biology, biochemistry and biophysics.

Eligibility / Entry Requirements

Basic Entry Requirements for PhD studies are: a degree at advanced level, courses to an extents of at Least 240 credits, of Which at Least 60 at advanced level, or corresponding proficiencies aquired in Sweden or else where.

Desirable background for this position ARE basic knowledge in the disciplines of cell biology, biochemistry, physical chemistry and bioinformatics. Practical experience of work on protein purification, enzymology and protein crystallography work is meritorious.

Good skills in English-written and oral communication is an Advantage.

Desirable Qualities ARE human creativity, goal-oriented, Ability to solve problems and think analytically & the Ability to Work Both independently and in groups.
