Responsibilities :

• Design and carryout field experiments to evaluate Zinc Biofortified breeding lines.
• Analysis of micro-nutrient and quality traits in rice grains.
• Make new crosses, plant selections, maintain pedigrees and advanced rice nurseries
• Data compilation, statistical analysis, preparing work plan and report writing
• Co-ordinate seed exchange between IRRI and ICRISAT-Hub, and with national partners involved in the activities of Harvest Plus project.
• Ensure seed multiplication of identified promising lines in the project for participatory varietal trials.
• Supervise research technicians, contractual workers and maintain proper work plan and payment schedule for contractual workers.
• Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the HarvestPlus Plant Breeder

Competencies :

• Strong writing and verbal communication skills in English;
• Proficiency in Computer skills (Ms- Office, data analysis);
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team, adaptable to working in multicultural environment.

Requirements :

• M.Sc. (Ag) in Plant Breeding and Genetics;
• 2-3 years’ experience in conducting field experiments and handling of breeding trials;
• Knowledge of plant breeding designs, data analysis, report compilation, seed exchange and coordination;
• Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge on rice biofortification and marker assisted breeding.
• Excellent verbal and written English and regional language are necessary

• Interested candidates may apply to the Administrative Officer, Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, 496, Udyog Vihar Phase-III Gurgaon Haryana-122106 on a plain paper in the attached format on or before 5th July, 2013.
• All educational, professional and technical qualification should be from a recognized Board/University.
• The experience requirement specified shall be experience acquired after obtaining the minimum educational qualifications required for the post.
• The age limit, qualification, experience and other requirements for the post is relaxable at the discretion of the competent authority, in case of candidates otherwise well qualified. In case candidates are not found suitable for the posts notified, they can be offered lower post on the recommendation of the Selection Committee.
• Persons working in Govt. or Public Sector undertaking should apply through proper channel or produce ‘No Objection Certificate’ at the time of Interview.
• Incomplete applications will stand summarily rejected.
• In case a large number of applications are received for each post, screening will be done to limit the number of candidates to those possessing higher/relevant qualification.
• Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
• Reservation rules will apply wherever applicable. Outstation SC/ST candidates called for the interview will be paid to & fro second class railway fare, as per Govt. of India rules on production of the proof of the same.
• Number of positions filled will be as per the need and availability of the suitable candidates.
• Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
