ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of Scientific Officer for IRRI to be based in Hyderabad. This is a nationally recruited position.

Responsibilities :
- Design and carryout field experiments to evaluate Zinc Biofortified breeding lines.
- Analysis of micro-nutrient and quality traits in rice grains.
- Make new crosses, plant selections, maintain pedigrees and advanced rice nurseries
- Data compilation, statistical analysis, preparing work plan and report writing
- Co-ordinate seed exchange between IRRI and ICRISAT-Hub, and with national partners involved in the activities of Harvest Plus project.
- Ensure seed multiplication of identified promising lines in the project for participatory varietal trials.
- Supervise research technicians, contractual workers and maintain proper work plan and payment schedule for contractual workers.
- Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the HarvestPlus Plant Breeder
Competencies :
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills in English;
- Proficiency in Computer skills (Ms- Office, data analysis);
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team, adaptable to working in multicultural environment.
Requirements :
- M.Sc. (Ag) in Plant Breeding and Genetics;
- 2-3 years’ experience in conducting field experiments and handling of breeding trials;
- Knowledge of plant breeding designs, data analysis, report compilation, seed exchange and coordination;
- Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge on rice biofortification and marker assisted breeding.
- Excellent verbal and written English and regional language are necessary
General : The position is for one year, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute's continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
