Ph.D. stipend available in Biology/CellBiology "Small regulatoryRNAs with a role in the virulence of Xanthomonas(Xcv)" : Halle/ Saale, Germany

A PhD student position (stipend) will be available April 1st 2013 at the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, Naturwissenschaftliche Fakultät I, Institut für Biologie, Bereich Genetik (Prof. Dr. Ulla Bonas).

Applicants should be highly motivated and good team workers. Requirements include a diploma or master degree in biology or biochemistry with above average grade as well as experience and a keen interest in molecular genetics and microbiology, bacterial pathogenesis, computational biology and RNA biochemistry.

The project aims at the identification and characterization of regulatory RNAs and RNA-binding proteins involved in the posttranscriptional control of virulence gene expression and pathogenesis of the plant-pathogenic bacterium Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria.

The project is supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and is part of the graduate school GRK 1591 “Posttranscriptional control of gene expression – mechanisms and role in pathogenesis” (further information at: https://www.medizin.uni-halle.de/grk1591). This graduate school offers a versatile structured training program with seminars as well as hands on courses in a very stimulating atmosphere.
