Expires: February 18, 2011
Two or more postdoctoral fellowships are available to work with research groups affiliated with the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics (CCDD) at Harvard School of Public Health http://ccdd.hsph.harvard.edu. CCDD, housed in the Epidemiology department is a hub for research, outreach and education. The Center has over 20 affiliates within Harvard and at outside institutions who study the transmission dynamics of communicable diseases dynamics through modeling, data analysis and methods development. These fellowships are designed to encourage independent development of novel projects by the fellow in collaboration with a CCDD affiliate. For this reason, the subject matter is open, within the general area of communicable disease dynamics.
Application Process
Candidates should contact a faculty member from among the Center’s affiliates to sponsor a mutually appealing project. Applicants must then complete and submit the application form found here http://ccdd.hsph.harvard.edu/opportunities/Doctoral-Students along with a CV and contact information for two references tofnobles@hsph.harvard.edu. Eligible persons will have completed doctoral training by the time they take up the fellowship. Priority will go to individuals who are not more than 3 years past the completion of the doctoral degree at that time.
Along with this application and the information requested above, please provide a cover letter with a 1-3 page description of your research plan and why you selected the CCDDsponsor(s). Your proposed sponsor should also send a letter indicating their willingness to supervise your postdoctoral fellowship and their level of enthusiasm for the proposed project.
Fellowships are intended to last two years. Funding is guaranteed for the first year, and fellows are expected to seek independent funding for the second, though continuation may be available.
