Dendritic cell interactions within human lymphoid organs in physiology and during HIV infection
The team « Antigen presentation by dendritic cells » of the Immuno-Hematology Department of the Cochin Institute welcomes a Post-doctoral fellow or a Research Engineer.
The Institute, comprising approximately 600 individuals, develops interactions between fundamental and clinical research on the Cochin-Port-Royal-St Vincent de Paul campus in the center of Paris between the Latin Quarter and Montparnasse (www.cochin.inserm.fr), and constitutes a very lively, evolutive and interactive environment.
You will study dendritic cells and their interactions with other cells in human lymphoid organs (lymph nodes, spleens, tonsils). You will perform labelings on tissue sections in immunofluorescence, observation and analysis by fluorescence microscopy. You will perform live cell migration experiments by fluorescence microscopy on organ explants. You will interact with other members of the team in charge of flow cytometric and functional analysis (Nascimbeni Blood 2009 ,113 : 6112 ; Matheoud Blood 2010, 115 : 4412 ; Hoeffel Immunity 2007, 27 :481). This research is funded by the National Agency for AIDS research and by Sidaction.
You hold a PhD or a Master or a Bachelor degree in Biology. You have the following skills:
-Collect human lymphoid organ samples from surgical wards
-Prepare samples and freeze them down for histology
-Include in paraffin
-Dilacerate, isolate cells on Ficoll gradients and freeze them down
-Perform cryostat or paraffin sections
-Perform histological staining, immunofluorescence or immunohistochemistry labeling
-Perform in situ hybridization
-Observe, take pictures of the sections under a classical or confocal fluorescence microscope
-Use Image J
-Additional experience in cellular immunology and flow cytometry would be appreciated.
You have a good ability to interact within a team. You are highly motivated, autonomous and organized.
This position will provide you with training in different research techniques and in cellular immunology, and multiple interactions in the world of research.
